With a wide choice of body sizes and an excellent drive, the Volkswagen Transporter is one of the UK’s favourite vans. All Transporter vans feature the companies 2.0-litre TDI engine, available as lower-powered 83bhp, 100bhp and 112bhp versions drive the front wheels through a five-speed manual gearbox, while the 138bhp and 176bhp models get a six-speed manual box as standard.
4MOTION all-wheel-drive is also available on higher powered models.
The short wheelbase Transporter has a load volume of 5.8 cubic metres whilst the long wheelbase Transporter has a 9.3 cubic metre load volume.
The 112bhp van is probably best for most company drivers. This van has plenty of power and will return an excellent 44.8mpg on a combined cycle.
Company van tax payable at 20% is £600 whilst at 40% it’s £1200. Fuel benefit tax is £133 at 20% and £235 at 40%. All of the vans here today have the same level of company van tax.
