Back to basics for the pick-up market
The pick-up market is changing. Not long ago, it was all about 'lifestyle' 4x4s - 'Chelsea Tractors' with a load bed, ideal for hip, rich urbanites to go windsurfing. But those 21st-century yuppies have been credit crunched - so they've traded their Animals and Wildtraks for a Prius. And that has left the pick-up market to the business user - a fact that Ford has recognised with its latest Ranger (right). It's more economical and puffs out less CO2 as well - just what you need, especially with fuel duty about to rise on September 1. Thanks, Mr Darling.
