CVO show builds for the future
IF YOU visited the Commercial Vehicle Operators Show at the NEC last month, you probably got a first look at the new Renault Master (and its sibling, the Vauxhall Movano). Renault has moved up into the big league with this van - the biggest 4.5-tonne GVW versions have payload of more than 2 tonnes and up to 17cu m of loadspace. We've driven two flavours of Master, and it's impressive. And certainly there's a trend toward bigger vans - though remember, you'll need a digital tachograph if you're running above 3.5-tonnes. As for the CV show, we've got plenty of coverage here too. Most attendees and exhibitors agreed that the show was a success, and the organisers are to be commended for getting a downsized show off the ground in tough economic conditions. They're promising a full-scale return next year even as we venture into the economic unknown under the Conservative-LibDem alliance. Let's hope the government doesn't stifle the small business transport sector as it tries to pay down the national debt.
