Citroen Nemo HDi 75 test
Review: Mark Bursa
Citroen Nemo 1.4HDi 75 LX Diesel
What is it?
New-style city van, with ultra-low emissions and excellent fuel economy. The Citroen Nemo is the third van to be built as a joint venture between Peugeot-Citroen and Fiat. So it’s almost identical to the Fiat Fiorino and Pegueot Bipper. But with a more sensible name than the Peugeot!
What’s hot?
- Based on the platform of the Fiat Grande Punto…
- …so its overall footprint is hatchback-sized
- Van body is deceptively big but overall length less than a Ford Fiesta
- Payload of 610kg, loadfloor length of 1.52m and volume of 2.5cu m…
- …more than usable for delivery work
- A 1000mm x 1200mm ISO pallet to be carried
- Operators may find a Nemo could replace a larger van for everyday use
- Fiat Grande Punto platform means excellent handling
- Turning circle is less than 10m
- Cab is car-like and comfortable, with excellent headroom
- Nice details include a fold-down front passenger seat
- This ups load volume to 2.8cm m
- And a flip-up clipboard on the top of the dashboard
- Good range of factory options: optional sliding doors on both sides
- CO2 emissions are a tax-friendly 119g/km on the 70hp 1.4 HDi diesel
- Running a Nemo will enhance your company’s ‘green’ credentials
- Optional SensoDrive clutchless manual for city driving
What’s not?
- Side door apertures are smaller than they look
- Bulkhead and rear wheel arches intrude into the space…
- …so the only way to load bulky items is through the back door
- Remember, it’s badge-engineered
- Peugeot’s Bipper and Fiat’s Fiorino are the same van – so shop around

Business Van Manager Road Test Rating
Car-derived vans used to comprise a box body welded to the front of a popular hatchback – but that’s sooo 20th century. The Citroen Nemo puts a clever, small panel van body on to a hatchback platform to combine car-like driveability with van practicality. Factor in a clean (sub-120g CO2), economical diesel engine and cheeky good looks and you’ve got a winning combination.
