Mitsubishi L200 Double Cab Barbarian

What’s not?

  • This is no SUV, work it hard and the polished drive unravels slightly – grip and handling levels are easily found.
  • The ride and handling of the new L200 impresses and although better than expected, the steering could do with more feel and could be quicker.
  • The L200 feels well-made and built to last, but some of the textured plastics and switchgear feel low-rent and as though they’ll wear quickly.
  • The standard touch screen audio/nav system is fiddly to use, with too many small, poorly marked buttons.
  • Our top-spec Barbarian version had a standard fit rear camera, but with its long rear bed, the L200 is still difficult to reverse.

Verdict on the Mitsubishi L200 Double Cab Barbarian 2.4 MIVEC turbo diesel

If 2014 was the year of the van, then 2015 is definitely the year of the pick-up, with plenty of new models launching this year.

Mitsubishi is early to the new pick-up party with the Series 5 L200, but we reckon it’s such a fine all-rounder that any new models will need to be amazing to top what we believe is the new king.
