- On top of the increased load area, the new L200 will carry a tonne in weight and can tow a further 3.1 tonnes.
What’s not
- The L200 drives and rides well for a pick-up, but is still easily upset by pot holes. Plus, drive it beyond its limits and grip and handling levels are easily hit.
- The ride and handling of the new L200 impress, but the steering, which although not lifeless, would benefit from more feel.
- The L200 feels well-made and built to last, but there is no surprise and delight in the shiny, textured plastics and switchgear, which feel low-rent when compared to rivals.
- The standard touch screen audio/CD system is a welcome standard feature with its DAB radio. However, it’s fiddly to use, making finding your favourite radio stations while driving quite difficult.
- Our mid-spec Titan version had a standard fit rear camera, but with its long rear bed, the L200 is still daunting to reverse.
The Verdict
2016 will see massive growth in the pick-up sector, with many new model launches being planned. We think that with the latest Mitsubishi L200 being such a great all-rounder, Mitsubishi are well placed to capitalise on this growth. Okay, so the new Nissan Navara NP300 slightly edges the Mitsubshi in the way it drives, but choosing this Mitsubishi even in mid-spec Titan trim is no compromise.
