The left-hand sliding door came in particularly useful when sliding the chair to the fixed bulkhead and out at the other end. I also found the way you can undo the rear door hinge to make the rear opening wider helpful too.

This was certainly the most I think I’ve ever put in the back of this Volkswagen commercial in over five-months ownership. So what did the Caddy drive like with all this extra weight in the back then?

Volkswagen Caddy

Well, the brakes were obviously having to work harder, to bring the Caddy to a stop and there was even more bodyroll in corners. But overall I was impressed by how little the drive was affected with the extra weight in the back.

The warning light issue I mentioned in my last report has repeated itself just once and the speaker appears to have stopped buzzing (must be down to my music!). So with the Caddy due to go back to Volkswagen soon, I might leave it to them to find out what’s wrong as these are not affecting the drive.

The all-new Caddy is due in the UK shortly and I hope to be able to bring you a comparison with it and my van in the next report before it goes back.
