Van operators could reduce risks to vehicles and drivers and potentially cut business van insurance costs, thanks to co-operation between telematics provider Quartix and Towergate Insurance. The companies have joined forces on Towergate’s Fleetcare+ product.
Quartix offers advanced driver behaviour reporting with both its InfoPlus and Corporate packages, along with a range of online vehicle tracking tools.
The Quartix system uses a built-in monitor to analyse driving style, checking acceleration, braking and speeding. The management information, provided in graphical reports, is designed to give SME van fleet managers the ability to make substantial savings in fuel costs while improving the safety of the mobile workforce.
With drivers aware that speeding, harsh braking, harsh cornering and rapid acceleration are monitored, improvements in safety and fuel consumption and vehicle care are likely to follow. With the data gathered, Towergate Insurance is able to highlight the risks and implement its risk management programmes to make your fleet safer and more efficient.
The policy benefits of Telematics Fleetcare+ are a two-year loss-ratio based deal, whereby reducing your loss ratio you can reduce the cost of your insurance premium. The lower your loss ratio, the bigger the premium rebate for which you qualify. This is subject to you renewing with Towergate in the third year. The two-year deal is not transferrable to any other insurance intermediary or broker.
An extended 12-month new vehicle indemnity is also offered: if you write off a vehicle when it’s up to 12 months old, Towergate will replace it with a brand new one. A range of risk management tools is available to help business van management, these include driver training and specialist risk management advisors.
Towergate Insurance has more than 30 years’ experience in the transportation sector. The company believes the use of telematics is changing the face of van insurance. Towergate managing director Larry Smith says: “The future is telematics. It predicts what could happen and gives us the opportunity to stop the loss before it occurs.”
More than 3,800 customers concerned with business vehicle management across a wide range of sectors use Quartix’s online service, and the company’s own-design tracking system has been installed in more than 55,000 vehicles.
