Douglas Communications now working with Northgate

DOUGLAS Communications operating in the North West and North East of England, has cut down on its service, maintenance and repair costs, as well as reducing losses associated with vehicle downtime.

The company has saved over £1,000 per month by working with Northgate and building up its rental fleet to 46 vehicles, after adding 16 very recently.

With the ageing fleet it owned, Douglas Communications’ service costs had significantly risen in recent years.

The new deal has brought a 100% reduction in downtime for the telecommunications company, resulting in an estimated total saving of around £15,000 annually.

Brian Fairhurst, Logistics Manager at Douglas Communications Ltd, said: “Historically at Douglas Communications, we have used a number of local garages to carry out our SMR work.

“However, with a sizeable aging fleet, maintenance and repair requirements have been more frequent and expensive, with downtime alone equating to around £500 per day.”

Mark Douglas, Managing Director at Douglas Communications went on:  “The combination we have of flexible vehicle hire and owned fleet maintained by Northgate is exactly the mix that works for our business – Northgate is the perfect fit for our requirements.”

Jane Forshaw, Business Development Manager at Northgate Vehicle Hire, concluded: “With our newly piloted out of hours servicing, the telecommunications company has seen an astonishing drop in its vehicle downtime.

“Benefits like this come standard as part of the flexible vehicle hire offering and help businesses stay on the road for longer.”
