THE Volkswagen Amarok well and truly shook the double-cab market up when it was first launched in 2011, being the first off-roader to offer car-like levels of comfort, plus of course Volkswagen’s legendary build quality and reliability.
Since then it has been scooping up trophies galore, including two at this year’s awards.
The Amarok is the best double-cab as it is designed for a dual life as either a workhorse or a lifestyle vehicle. This is why there are three trim levels available – Startline, Trendline and Highline, so customers can choose passenger car luxuries they’d expect in a lifestyle vehicle.
Volkswagen carried out extensive customer research in the UK to understand what a double-cab pick-up is used for, and it was clear that most people used them for work and pleasure, often choosing one as a lifestyle statement instead of using a van, or having a car as well for weekends.
The key attributes that make the Amarok the best double-cab are true of any Volkswagen – quality, durability and low wholelife costs, with the support and professional services from the Volkswagen Van Centre network and range of easy finance and service plans.
Volkswagen is the first German brand to enter the pick-up market and as a result, the Amarok – a four-door, five-seater double cab – set new levels of premium quality and refinement in its sector. Yet with markets such as South America, Australia and South Africa as key targets, the Amarok is also designed to be tough enough to work hard in all conditions.
It is available with either a selectable two/four wheel drive or the car-like convenience of permanent 4MOTION all-wheel drive. Both are capable of extreme off-roading if required.
As a leader in its sector to focus on reducing emissions, the Amarok was the first double-cab model to have emissions below 200 g/km.
