vanarama logo-300x76THE Transit Courier launched in 2014, completed Ford’s four-pronged attack on the commercial market with the expanded Transit range.

Ford’s B-platform integrated style van is designed to take on established rivals such as the Fiat Fiorano, Peugeot Bipper, Citroen Nemo, Mercedes Citan and the Nissan NV200.

van-awards1The Transit Courier’s compact dimensions are perfectly suited to urban environments, where it slides into tight spaces. But with its 2.3 cubic load area and 660kg payload, it’s certainly no lightweight. In fact it almost matches that of vans from a class above. So it’s perfect for small delivery services.

Ford Transit Courier

  • Gross vehicle weight: 1,765 kg
  • Payload: 650 kg
  • Load volume: 2.3 cu m
  • Fuel economy (combined): 53.3 mpg
  • CO2 emissions: 120 g/km
  • Price (ex-VAT): £13,130

Low running costs are key in this segment and the Ford doesn’t disappoint; go for the nippy 100PS 1.0-litre EcoBoost petrol and the CO2 is just 120g/km with 53.3mpg consumption.

It might be a van, but the Transit Courier’s underpinnings are shared with the baby SUV – the B-Max. As such, the steering and gearchange are precise and the ride the most refined in its class. This Ford is a van you’ll enjoy getting in every morning!

Ford also offers exceptional aftersales support from its Transit centres and a strong warranty package too, which are hugely important considerations for all businesses in these challenging times.

Ford Transit Courier owners will also benefit from a number of industry firsts, including a device dock to hold a mobile phone or portable sat-nav and its EasyFuel system, which prevents misfuelling. Other firsts for this segment include central remote locking, an under-seat storage drawer, deep centre console and overhead storage shelf.

If this isn’t enough, options include Ford’s in-car connectivity system Sync, with emergency assist and Applink on the Trend trim, sat-nav, cruise control and reversing camera.

The judges were quick to praise this worthy contender. Eddie Parker, LCV specialist at GE Fleet Capital  said: “The Courier takes a new stance to a small van, bringing a successful formula into a new sector.”

The Business Van Awards 2016 are sponsored by Vanarama.
