Mercedes-Benz CItan at the CV Show

Mercedes-Benz CItan: favourable whole-life costs offset higher purchase prices says Mercedes

THE Mercedes Citan has just made its UK show debut at the CV Show with the new small van featuring prominently on the company’s sizeable stand.

Around 375 Citans have been sold in the first quarter of 2013.

Although the Citan is more expensive than some rivals, Mercedes-Benz says Whole Life Costs compare favourably and the level of service offered by its  dealers  – including 24-hour servicing, online booking and free breakdown cover – outstrips that offered by other manufacturers.

The van, which is available in in three lengths – Compact, Long and Extra Long with load volumes of up to 2.4cu m, 3.1cu m and 3.8cu m – went on UK sale in January, joining Vito and Sprinter in the M-B LCV line-up.

The Citan is powered by a 1.5-litre diesel engine with three different outputs – 75hp, 90hp and 110hp, and torque figures of 180Nm, 200Nm and 240Nm respectively.

Citan prices range from £13,095 (ex-VAT) for the 108 CDI Compact model up to £17,545 for the 111CDI Extra Long five-seat Dualiner crew cab. A range of Agility business van finance packages is available.
