WHEN Isuzu ditched the ageing Rodeo 4×4 pick-up in 2012 and replaced it with the new Isuzu D-Max, bosses at the firm told us that they were aiming for the No1 slot in the sector.
While the D-Max hasn’t quite make it there yet, the new contender has certainly done wonders for Isuzu, which announced a 50% increase in sales this year over last year.
The Isuzu D-Max has also been shortlisted in two categories of the Business Vans Awards – best utility pick-up and best double-cab.
The UK is the best selling country for Isuzu vehicles in Europe and the firm has seen an amazing sales growth of 272% since 2009.
William Brown, general manager at Isuzu UK, commented: “More consumers than ever want a pick-up that offers great looks, refinement, outstanding value and class-leading attributes, whether they’re private or fleet buyers.
“The increase in the braked towing capacity to 3.5-tonnes was further demonstration of the D-Max’s all-round abilities and we’re set to widen its appeal further in the near future.
“Next year is going to be another exciting period of growth for Isuzu as we look to maximise new opportunities, continue developments to make the road-going pick-up even more desirable and engage in new off-road performance activities that will test the ruggedness of an Isuzu D-Max to the maximum.”
All Isuzu D-Max pick-ups sold in the UK come standard with a five-year / 125,000-mile warranty.
