Renault Kangoo Maxi Van: extra load space
New long-wheelbase Kango version
IT’S A stretch – but worth it! Renault is launching a long-wheelbase version of the Kangoo, making it the only manufacturer to offer three body lengths within its compact business van range.
The Kangoo Van Maxi is 390mm longer than Kangoo Van and boasts an additional cubic metre of load volume. It also offers a useful load volume of up to 4.6cu m and a loadspace length at floor level of 2.1m. It features an even more modular interior, as well as a choice of fuel-efficient powertrains.
The Renault Kangoo Van Maxi has a payload of 800kg, and can tow a braked trailer weight of 1.05 tonnes.
With an overall length of 4.60m, Kangoo Van Maxi is 384mm longer than Kangoo Van. All of this extra length is contained within the 3.1m wheelbase, giving Kangoo Van Maxi excellent road manners. There is no high-roof option, so its overall height is the same as Kangoo Van and Kangoo Compact at 1.82 metres, making it compact enough to use city-centre car parks.
Aimed principally at business users seeking maximum load volume and flexibility within a compact footprint, Kangoo Van Maxi is available with either two or five seats. The two-seater version can be equipped with a folding passenger seat, allowing the maximum load length at floor level to be extended from 2.1m to 2.9m (with seat in folded position).
The five-seater Kangoo Van Maxi Crew Van has a maximum load length at floor level of 1.33m (2.2m with the rear bench seat folded) and a payload of 740kg. It is highly flexible and can be configured in three different permutations thanks to its 60/40-split folding rear seat. It is fitted with either a cargo securing net as standard with the option of a fixed wire mesh bulkhead.
All versions of Kangoo Van Maxi are fitted as standard with twin sliding side doors to enable easy access to the load space. It is powered by the familiar 1.5 dCi 85 powerplant returning average combined cycle fuel consumption of 53.3mpg and 47.9mpg on the urban cycle. This engine is available for both the two- and five-seater versions and emits 140g/km of CO2.
The Renault Kangoo Van Maxi+ trim level is equipped with the Carminat TomTom navigation system as standard.
Kangoo Van Maxi goes on sale in the UK on 4 June.
