Mercedes-Benz Sprinters go green for Fairways Group

Fairways Group is preparing the lawns at the Kelvingrove Bowling Centre, the venue for next summer’s Commonwealth Games

WHEN Glasgow-based Fairways Group needed new vans for its bowling green-keeping division, it looked at the reliability and economy of its existing vehicles and was bowled over by its Mercedes-Benz models.

The company’s Fairways Sportsgrounds division, which is maintaining the bowling greens for next year’s Commonwealth Games, has now added two Sprinter 313 CDI vans, as well as a Citan 108 CDI, to the 16 Sprinters it already has in service with its grass machinery sales arm.

The 313CDI vans are powered by a fuel-efficient 129hp engine which is cleaner and more powerful than the equivalent model from the previous Sprinter range, as well as being 15% more economical, delivering an extra 4.5mpg.

The Sprinters help Fairways Group maintain a consistent corporate image, by having the same smart, professional-looking vans across its divisions

Fairways Sportsgrounds Contracts Director Dave Gibson told Business Vans: “Our previous Sprinters have served us extremely well so we had no hesitation in choosing more Mercedes-Benz vans.

“We were keen to maintain a consistent corporate image, by having the same smart, professional-looking business vans across our divisions. But we also wanted vehicles that would be reliable and safe for our operatives, as well as offering low operating costs and coming with the safety net of high quality support from a local dealer.”

The vans were supplied by local Mercedes-Benz dealer Western Commercial.
