A TEAM of paramedics from the East of England Ambulance Service will be donning the lycra and getting on their bikes over the next nine days – with some back up support from a Mercedes Vito Traveliner minibus and long-bodied Mercedes Sprinter van.
Raising awareness and cash for the Ambulance Services Benevolent fund, the pedalling paramedics will cover 999 miles, starting from Camborne, near Cambridge, with the aim of visiting 10 UK ambulance trusts.
Local dealer Orwell Truck & Van has donated the specially-liveried Mercedes vans, which will be used for carrying spares, tools and if the worst should happen – even medical supplies on the mammoth trip.
Dealer Principle Jonathan Ager said: “The Pedalling Paramedics do a fantastic job of raising money for a very worthy cause. We were delighted to help out by providing them with a couple of Mercedes-Benz support vehicles – but I drew the line when they invited me to join them!”
