THE Ford Transit SportVan has been hugely popular. With good reason. They look great on the road with their bonnet stripes and sporting appearance. But if you want a new one, that’s tough.
Because all previous SportVan versions, the original of which was launched in 2007, have sold out. However, to mark Ford of Britain’s centenary, there’s another opportunity to get your hands on one: the Ford Transit team has just released 180 special edition Transit SportVan models in a smart new livery – metallic silver and graphite.
It will cost you £23,670 but for that you get the SportVan in Moondust Silver paintwork with Le Mans-style graphite bonnet stripes, 18in graphite colour alloy wheels, extended wheel arches, twin exhaust pipes and spoilers. Tasty.
The Transit SportVan is based on the popular 260, short wheelbase model with front wheel drive. Power is from Ford’s 140PS 2.2-litre TDCi diesel with a six-speed gearbox. Standard safety features include ABS, ESP and driver and passenger airbags.
Inside the cab there’s velour trim, air conditioning, Sony radio/CD with DAB with remote steering-column-mounted controls, Bluetooth, cruise control, power windows, powered and heated mirrors, leather steering wheel, tinted glass, leather gearshift knob and a perimeter alarm as standard.
