MITSUBISHI Motors is doing its bit to help the flood relief effort in Somerset.

The UK Mitsubishi distributor has waded in with the loan of two L200 4×4 pick-ups, after Somerset County Council approached the company saying it needed more vehicles to enable volunteers from FLAG (the Flooding on the Levels Action Group) to continue their relief work.

The four-wheel-drive pick-ups, which Mitsubishi Motors has provided for as long as required, will be used by volunteer co-ordinators Tim Holmes and Stuart Smith who have been working in Burrowbridge and Moorland since the flooding began.

Somerset Councillor David Fothergill said: “We’ve already helped source boats and amphibious vehicles to provide a lifeline to people in Somerset whose homes have been cut off by floods.

“These pick-ups will make a real difference by enabling dedicated volunteers from FLAG to continue their excellent work, which includes taking vital supplies to the people who need them.”

The vehicle donation was arranged by Mitsubishi Motors corporate sales manager Dan Pigot.

He told Business Vans: “We have all seen what the people in this area are going through so we were more than happy to help in this way. The Mitsubishi L200s are the perfect vehicles to allow the excellent volunteers to continue doing their vital work in helping the people affected by the floods.”
