Ford Transit Connect: plenty of load space – up to 2.9cu m on the L1 version with full bulkhead

Ford Transit Connect: Best-in-class fuel efficiency

The new Ford Transit Connect load carrying capacity

  • The new Ford Transit Connect offers a load area with volumes of 2.9cu m and 3.6cu m with a full bulkhead, or 3.7cu m and 4.4cu m including the front loadspace area (L1/L2, measured to SAE).
  • Payloads of up to 1,000kg are said to match best-in-class figures.
  • Long loads up to 3.0m (L1) and 3.4m (L2) can be carried thanks to load-through hatch in the bulkhead and fold-flat passenger seat.
  • A multi-fold dual passenger seat now allows van models to carry up to three crew in the cab.
  • Both models can accommodate two Europallets in the load area with a between-the-wheelarches width of 1,226mm.
  • The Kombi and Double-Cab-in-Van models provide seating for five, or seven in the L2 Kombi variant, and offer flexible rear seat configurations. DCiV versions are equipped with a movable mesh bulkhead.
  • The L2 model also offers a unique fold-flat seat capability to optimise loadspace from the front passenger seats rearwards and will swallow loads of up to 2m.

The ECOnetic model is capable of 70.6mpg and CO2 emissions of 105g/km when fitted with a fixed 62mph speed limiter giving a 34 % improvement on the outgoing model. Other fixed and switchable speed limiters available as options.

It’s also the first Ford van to offer the fuel-efficient 1.0-litre EcoBoost petrol engine, delivering class-leading petrol economy of 50.4mpg and CO2 emissions of 129g/km. The engine has won the International Engine of the Year award twice.

Improvements in servicing and maintenance costs are also said to help new Transit Connect achieve significant savings in overall cost of ownership.

Fuel saving ECOnetic Technologie include Auto-Start-Stop and Active Grille Shutter.

The powertrain line-up includes the Dagenham-built 1.6-litre Duratorq TDCi diesel engine offering a choice of 75hp, 95hp and 115hp power outputs, as well as the 1.0-litre EcoBoost petrol engine with a 100hp power output.

The new Ford Transit Connect is available to order now for delivery in late 2013.
