Mark Easton, Ford’s LCV product manager believes the 1 litre EcoBoost engine will attract some buyers back to petrol

The new Transit Courier enters the urban delivery van market where Ford has failed to field an effective competitor – until now.

But the smallest Transit is changing the landscape for small businesses who want a smart all-purpose delivery van offering best in class fuel economy and load space.

And Ford has kept it simple for the SME market. There are only two lines in the Ford Transit Courier range: Base and Trend.

Meanwhile there is the choice of three engine variants:

  • 1.5 75PS TDCi diesel
  • 1.6 90PS TDCi diesel
  • 1.0T 100PS EcoBoost petrol.

The three-cylinder 1.0T EcoBoost is the cheapest Transit Courier you can buy although most buyers will head for the 1.6 diesel which costs £12,445 (ex VAT) and is only available in Trend.

“We expect a strong interest from SMEs in Transit Courier,” said Mark Easton, Ford’s LCV product manager. “Although we believe most small businesses and trades to opt for the diesel, we expect up to 5% of sales to come from the petrol EcoBoost model.”
