New SsangYong 4x4 commercial could take you beyond tarmac

The CSX is based on the passenger-carrying Korando SX but powered by a new, lower-CO2 version of the Korando power unit

DO you run a business that takes you beyond tarmac, or needs to operate in all weathers? Then the latest 4×4 light commercial from SsangYong could well be a good prospect.

The new model, the Korando CSX, is equipped with a torque-on-demand four-wheel-drive system that monitors the level of grip available and distributes power to the wheels that need it most.

Under normal conditions the engine’s torque is directed to the front wheels so the van runs with the efficiency of a family hatchback. If the front tyres start to lose traction, power is automatically fed to the rear wheels to maintain progress with grip from all four wheels.

An all-wheel-drive lock mode is also provided to give a 50/50 spread of torque between front and rear wheels for situations requiring low-speed traction, such as driving off a muddy building site towing a trailer

An all-wheel-drive lock mode is also provided to give a 50/50 spread of torque between the front and rear wheels at speeds up to 25mph, for situations requiring low-speed traction, for example, when driving up a slippery track or off a muddy building site while towing a trailer.

The van is also equipped with ESP with Hill Start Assist, and mud and snow tyres as standard.

The CSX is based on the passenger-carrying Korando SX but powered by a new, lower CO2 version of the Korando power unit. The 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbo-diesel engine develops 149hp, and produces 360Nm of torque while COemissions have been reduced to 157g/km.
