Pick-up meets limo in limited edition VW Amarok Canyon

VW has taken the range topping Trendline model and added £8500 in extras to come up with the Amarok Canyon

YOU may need to drive a pick-up truck for your business, but it can still be a pretty exclusive pick-up truck.

Volkswagen certainly thinks that way, launching a limited edition of just 350 VW Amarok Canyon models.

The Canyon is leather inside, right down to the fine stitching on the steering wheel

On sale on 1^st April, the Amarok Canyon takes as its baseline the range-topping Trendline trim, but adds a host of extra that according to Volkswagen are worth more than £8500.

Included in the add-ons are satellite navigation with a six-inch colour touchscreen, Bluetooth, styling bars unique to the model, 19-inch Cantera alloy wheels and heated leather seats.

Front and rear parking sensors are fitted, along with privacy glass, a protective coating for the load area, a matt black roll cover, interior floor mats and a high-gloss black finish to the side styling bars and rear bumper.

VW’s designers have also tried hard to make the Canyon’s interior stand out.

It’s upholstered in Nappa and Vienna leather in two-tone Moonrock (light grey) and Anthracite (dark grey). A leather-covered steering wheel and gear knob with orange stitching complete the effect, apart from one further touch dependent on which of the three exterior colours is chosen.

Go for Copper Orange and the air vent surrounds are matched to it, while on the Deep Black and Reflex Silver models the vent surrounds are in Matt Chrome. All three colours are finished off with Indium Grey foil lettering and a Silver under ride guard.

The Amarok Canyon is supplied with the range-topping 2-litre BiTDI 180PS diesel engine. All vehicles come with VW’s 4Motion four-wheel-drive transmission, with 50 available with the six-speed manual gearbox and the other 300 with an eight-speed auto.

The auto versions also gain BlueMotion Technology modifications to cut fuel consumption and emissions. These include low rolling-resistance tyres, Start/Stop and regenerative braking systems.
