Save downtime – get your van MoT tested while you sleep

Headlamp checking during a night MoT test at Midlands Truck & Van

Your van isn’t earning its keep when it’s off the road. Any downtime will have a negative effect on your business and that includes MoT testing.

Well, if you’re Midlands based, this could be the answer. Mercedes-Benz dealer Midlands Truck & Van is offering to MoT test your vans while you sleep.

The company already provides a night MoT testing service at its dealership in Whitley, Coventry. And this facility has recently been extended to cover its headquarters in Aston, Birmingham, and its Willenhall, Wolverhampton branch.

The move means customers will no longer have to take their commercial vehicles off the road for testing during the day, when they should be out earning. Neither will business van operators face the hassle of transferring tools and other equipment from their own van to an alternative vehicle, or have to contend with the insurance headaches and additional expense that this could entail.

Instead, they need only drop off their vehicle at Midlands Truck & Van at the end of the day, then return to collect it, tested and ready for work again, the following morning.

And Midlands Truck & Van will also carry out routine servicing procedures and repairs during the same overnight ‘pit stop’.

Aftersales director David Stewart told Business Vans: “We’re commercial vehicle specialists at Midlands Truck & Van, so we understand that when a vehicle is off the road during business hours it’s actually costing its owner money.

“The launch of our new night MoT service underlines once again, our commitment to providing customers with a service that is responsive, flexible and cost-effective.”

Midlands Truck & Van offers MoT testing on vehicles of all marques in the Class 4 (cars, vans and small minibuses up to 3.0 tonnes gross weight), Class 5 (buses with up to 15 passenger seats, as well as ambulances), and Class 7 (vans up to 3.5 tonnes gross weight) categories.

The workshops at all three of its sites are open round-the-clock, from 7am on Monday mornings until Saturday lunchtimes; the dealership also provides Service 24h roadside rescue and recovery back up, 365 days a year.

The company has invested in additional staff training and development to offer its extended MoT service to business van operators.
