New Volkswagen Caddy

New Volkswagen Caddy interior – more Golf like inside with improved switchgear and even a sporty flat-bottomed steering wheel

Classier and similar to the current Golf, the new Volkswagen Caddy’s interior certainly feels more car-like than before, with improved switchgear, new infotainment and navigation systems and even a sportier flat-bottomed steering wheel on some models.

All diesel engines powering the new Volkswagen Caddy are now Euro 6 compliant, although perhaps unusually some Euro 5 diesels will still be available. There’s the choice of a new 2.0-litre four-cylinder diesel, available in 74bhp, 101bhp and 148bhp versions.

If the Caddy’s new looks pass you by, its impressive list of new safety features will make you take notice. Highlights include the Front Assist monitoring system, with City Emergency Braking. This works by applying the brakes if it detects that you’re going to have a low-speed collision. It will also continue to apply the brakes if it detects obstacles after a high speed crash.

Light Assist and Driver Alert systems, adaptive cruise control, a rear camera, Park Assist and even an automated parking system are amongst the key options for the new Caddy.

Prices will be announced closer to the on-sale date, but a Volkswagen official said to expect a small price rise over the current Caddy.
