SPEEDWAY racing is not for the faint-hearted.
This new Vito Sport is definitely the best yet – the performance is very sprightly while the alloy wheels and chrome trim mean it looks great too
The idea is to slide around a dirt track at 80mph and more on a 500cc, single cylinder, alcohol powered bike with one gear and no brakes.
Chris ‘Bomber’ Harris does it for a living, and he’s just acquired a Mercedes Vito Sport van as his support vehicle. After the rigours of the track, it must be a relief to return to the comfort of his van.
Chris is the captain and star rider of the Coventry Bees Team. He bought the long-bodied Vito Sport with help from a sponsor from the city branch of Midlands Truck & Van. Chris and his mechanic use the van to travel between race meetings around the UK.
Strikingly liveried by Baker Ward in Birmingham, the van carries Chris’s two bikes as well as tools, spares and his helmuts and leathers.
