SSANGYONG’s striking new Korando Sports double-cab 4×4 pick-up will be available in two model grades – the SX and the EX. And prices start at £14,621 ex-VAT (£18,295 on the road), rising to £17,079 ex-VAT (£21,245 on the road) for the EX automatic.
Both versions are powered by SsangYong’s latest e-XDi diesel engine. This new Euro 5, 2-litre engine develops maximum power of 155hp and peak torque of 360Nm delivered between 1,500rpm and 2,800rpm. Fuel consumption of up to 37.7 mpg on the Combined Cycle is said to be achievable.
Unlike other pick-ups with rear leaf-sprung suspension, the SsangYong Korando Sports has a live rear axle supported by five-link suspension with coil springs, which will give a better ride. The trade off is a smaller payload than other pick-ups in the market at 643kg (630kg for the EX model).

The Korando Sports is quipped with a selectable two-/four-wheel-drive six-speed manual transmission and low-ratio transfer gears, for credible off-road use. A six-speed automatic gearbox with cruise control is also is available on the EX model.

The EX adds a touch of luxury – leather upholstery with heated front seats, powered driver’s seat, heated, electrically adjustable and power folding door mirrors and rear parking sensors
There’s seating for five adults. The rear passenger seat has a folding armrest and can be reclined by up to 29 degrees.
The rear deck provides a 2.04sq m load area, which will take a Euro pallet, and comes with load deck liner and anchor points. An optional rigid hard top is available to provide weather protection and security to the load area, and has a hinged rear window that closes behind the tailgate so that the central locking secures and protects the contents.

Safety features include electronic stability programme (ESP), active roll-over protection (ARP) and hill start assist (HSA). As with all models in the SsangYong range, the new Korando Sports is covered by a five-year limitless-mileage warranty.
On-the-road prices are: SX – £18,295; EX – £19,995; EX Auto – £21,245. VAT-registered business van buyers can recover the VAT from the purchase of an LCV used for business purposes. The Korando Sports is registered as an LCV and VAT may be recoverable depending upon the circumstances of the business concerned.
