Strong August van sales bode well for LCV market to year-end

From January to August, 161,983 new vans have been sold in the UK

WE’RE told the economy’s on the mend and the fact that you’re still buying vans goes some way to bear this out. New vans sales in August saw an increase of 11.1% over the August 2012 figure with 10,344 registrations.

Van sales over the January-August period totalled 161,983 – that’s 9.4% up on the corresponding period in 2012.

SMMT commercial vehicle manager Nigel Base said: “For vans, August is always a quieter month ahead of the September plate-change, but the 9.4% year-to-date rise in volumes is set to be maintained through to year end.”
