Remember the A-Team? If so you’ll remember the van

THE iconic GMC Vandura used by TV soldiers of fortune the A-Team has been named as the UK’s favourite van.

According to a new survey, the iconic black and metallic grey vehicle with its characteristic red stripe edged out the Mean Machine of meddling kids the Scooby-Doo bunch, while in third was a British icon – Del Boy’s Reliant Regal from Only Fools and Horses.

In the survey, published by Direct Line for Business, the preferred transport of Commander Templeton Peck, Howling Mad Murdock, John Hannibal Smith and the somewhat intimidating B A Baracus, took 43 per cent of the vote.

However 20 per cent of voters preferred the modified Chevrolet Greenbrier van that usually featured at the start of each episode of the Scooby Doo animated series starring Shaggy, Scooby, Fred, Velma and Daphne.

Behind the Trotters’ yellow peril, Wallace & Gromit’s Anti-Pesto pest control van and Postman Pat’s Bedford HA completed the top five.

The A-Team TV series only ran for four years but according to Jasvinder Gakhalat of Direct Line for Business the van still holds a special place in the heart of motoring enthusiasts 25 years later.

“Though it is unlikely Hannibal, B A and company would have been able to get insurance given their unique line of work,” Gakhalat adds!
