DESPITE worries that the market would be slowing down in 2015, instead the UK commercial vehicle market has had an excellent year. Registrations are expected to total 375,000, an increase of 16.4 per cent over the 2014 volume.
A majority of commercial models have made up this growth – but what were the best-selling vans?
We count down the top 5 best-selling vans from figures supplied by the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) to the end of October, from five to one.
Volkswagen Transporter – 17,036 registrations
It has been a year of change for our 2014 Best Crew Van winner, as the latest T6 version took over from the already popular T5. Still, the T5 is still worthy of merit as it is a well-made van, available in a variety of different versions and as vans go, it’s still a very refined drive.
The new T6 builds on the success of the T5, with a more car-like dashboard and safety features. It’s got to be a contender in the 2016 Business Vans awards, hasn’t it?

Mercedes Sprinter – 19,982 registrations
The Sprinter celebrated its 20th birthday this year and despite the passing years, this Mercedes van continues to be a top seller in the UK, because it’s very easy to drive.
On top of this, the Sprinter is available in many different versions, has plenty of standard safety kit and the build quality is top notch.
