While LCV sales were down by 14.2% in December, the UK market fared better than Euro countries

UK van sales were down in December, but it was far worse in Europe where commercial vehicle sales fell dramatically by 23.4% compared with 2011 according to figures from ACEA – the European Automobile Manufacturers’ Association.

UK registrations of vans under 3.5 tonnes were down by 14.2% in December compared with 2011. In Spain sales fell by 32.7%, by 21.7% in France, and 19.6% in Italy. Even the German market for experienced a significant decrease, with a drop of 24.3%.

In the medium-heavy (over 3.5 tonnes) sector most markets suffered significant contraction last year. The UK was the only major market to expand with an increase of 3.5%.
