Retail sales in van sector headed by Vauxhall
SMALL business are liking Vauxhall vans.
If you’re at the wheel of a brand new 61-plate Vauxhall you are one of over 2,000 which were registered in September, helping put Vauxhall top of the retail sales charts according to latest figures from the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders.
Vauxhall put its success with small business van sales down to the offer of four years’ zero per cent APR finance, four years’ free servicing, a four year warranty and four years’ AA cover.
“September proved to be yet another excellent month for Vauxhall van sales,” said Richard Collier, Vauxhall’s national commercial vehicles sales manager.
“It’s great news for Vauxhall that despite the uncertain economic outlook there’s still strong demand for fuel efficient, high quality vans with low running costs and excellent manufacturer support.”
Vauxhall is the UK’s largest manufacturer of commercial vehicles with its Luton plant recently celebrating a decade of Vivaro production. Earlier this year the plant won the contract to build the next generation of Vivaro, securing local jobs for the next decade.
The latest edition to the multi award-winning Vauxhall Commercial Vehicles range, the all-new Combo, is due next year.
Overall van sales up to 3.5t remain dominated by Ford, however, which stays as number one overall thanks to its strong sales into fleets.
“Confidence returned to the commercial vehicle market in 2011 and the September market continues the upward trend, growing 8.8% on last year,” added Paul Everitt, SMMT chief executive.
“The future state of the economy is certainly a concern, but it’s clear that owners and operators are currently investing in new, fuel-efficient vehicles to help weather the storm of high fuel prices.”
