Volkswagen Crafters fit the bill for Fife Council

The capacity and reliability of the Crafter was an important factor in its choice, says Fife Council

WITH loadspace, towing ability and passenger capacity high on the list of requirements for its Parks & Countryside department vans, Fife Council is adding another 30 Volkswagen Crafters to it fleet.

The Crafters – the biggest of VW’s vans – have cargo volumes from 7.5cu m to 17cu m and offer payloads of 1,544kg to 2,693kg.

Powered by BlueMotion engines the Crafters should do 38.8mpg giving a potential range of more than 650 miles.

The Crafter range includes panel and glazed vans, single or double chassis cabs, and dropside and tipper bodies.

Fife Council fleet officer Andrew Salmond told Business Vans: “The capacity and reliability of the vehicles was instrumental in the procurement process. We have a number of vehicles in use across the region and have always been pleased with the performance of the Crafter.”

Ex-VAT prices for the Crafter range start at £21,050, or from £309 a month (plus VAT and initial rental) with the current contract hire and business van finance lease offer. This includes a £1,000 initial rental contribution from Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles Finance.
