WALES and Scarlets centre and self-confessed petrol-head Scott Williams has taken to the wheel of a monster 1200 bhp racing truck at the Pembrey racetrack in  South Wales.

After some expert tuition from ten-time British Truck Racing Champion Stuart Oliver, Scott took to the wheel of the 5.5-tonne Scania truck himself.

The truck has a 6-cylinder turbodiesel engine and 16 gears to take it from 30-100mph in a hair-raising 6 seconds.

The 23 year old rugby star said the drive was, “An incredible adrenalin rush. Stuart had the truck going sideways and we were flat out round the back of the circuit.

“When we swapped seats it took me a couple of laps to get used to everything….and I did have a little heart-in-mouth moment where I went off the grass and could see the tyre wall coming up pretty quickly!”

Scott recovered well enough to put in a lap time that would qualify him for the starting grid at the Truck Racing Championship that will take place next weekend at Pembrey.

Fancy a go? 5.5 tonnes at over 100mph would put off most people
