VW Amarok Canyon
Double trouble! The Amarok was a double cab favourite at Business Vans

WOW! We do like a pick up here at Business Vans, but the VW Amarok Canyon surely is the godzilla of double cab pick ups.

Even its full title – Volkswagen Amarok Canyon 2.0 BiTDI 4MOTION Permanent 180hp auto – suggests it will stride over anything, man up to any crisis.

It’s all brilliant butch and postering – those roof mounted lights just add to the effect – but inside it panders to greater degrees of comfort, such as leather and heated seats.

there’s plenty of low down grunt to match the sinewed appearance

As it does on the road. The ride is good, the engine has 420Nm of torque, so there’s plenty of low down grunt to match the sinewed appearance, and you won’t notice the silken changes from the eight speed auto box.

For property developers and the like, we can really see the appeal. And even if you’re not, you should try and make an excuse!

If there’s one element that does let it down, though, it’s the satnav. “Stay on this road…for some time.”

VW Amarok CanyonFor some time? What?

It should be table-thumpingly firm and forthright. “Stay on this road. And keep going – until I tell you otherwise.”

Now that’s the sort of thing VW should engineer into the satnav for the full effect.
