THE European Automobile Manufacturers Association have released the 2015 commercial vehicle registration figures with the UK seeing growth of 16.4% in total new commercial vehicles registered over the previous 12 months to the end of November.

It was also positive news for the European Union as a whole with a 12.2% rise and every member country having an increase in the last year.

Medium and Heavy Vehicles

Breaking this down into particular markets the UK saw a rise in new medium and heavy commercial vehicle registrations for vehicles over 3.5t by over a fifth (20.7%). It’s not just positive news for the UK though as every country in the European Union saw a rise in this particular market with the Union as a whole rising by 15.6%. The only two European countries to see a decline in the market were Norway and Switzerland who saw a 2.5% and 6.8% drop respectively. These figures contributed to a very strong final quarter which also saw a month-on-month rise of 17.8% in November.

Light Commercial Vehicles

Light commercial vehicle registrations, for vehicles up to 3.5t also saw a significant rise in the UK for 2015 with a 15.7% rise compared with the previous 12 months. The only EU country not to post positive figures for this particular market was Latvia whose small decrease of 3.8% saw 84 less light vehicles registered. Overall the figures are again strong with 159,471 more vehicles registered across the European Union since 2014.

Buses and Coaches

The commercial market which saw the most mixed set of results was for new medium and heavy buses and coaches over 3.5t. Countries such as Romania boasted incredibly high changes, almost doubling their total output from the previous year, although this is countered by countries such as Greece and Finland who recorded a quarter dip in the number of vehicles registered. The UK however registered 1,668 more new vehicles in this market seeing a 26.8% rise over the course of the last 12 months.

Purchasing a new vehicle can be expensive and with the current market place thriving with no signs of slowing down, there are a lot of older and now unused trucks and vans that can be found due to previous owners upgrading.
