Eight of the ten most popular vans in the UK in 2023 were deemed too long to squeeze into a parking space. The Mercedes-Benz Sprinter was the vehicle with outsized parking bays the most, there were 14,715 vehicle registrations for this van last year. Width wasn’t as much of an issue - with nine of ten models managing to squeeze both sides of their van into the spot. It’s bad news for Ford Transit owners, though, as their size means not being able to squeeze into parking spaces in the UK, with over 500mm difference.

The number of van thefts last year increased to 12,950 across the UK, an 18% jump from 2022’s total. Although the total is smaller compared to car thefts across the UK, which had a 5% increase and amounted to 64,087, it seems drivers just can’t get away from criminals targeting their vehicles.

The average price of petrol has jumped to £1.55 a litre, whilst diesel has increased to £1.61. When these prices are compared to just two months ago, this is an increase of 10p per litre for petrol and 13p per litre for diesel. Whilst this may not seem like a significant increase, it will now cost an additional £5.50 to fill up a standard 55-litre family car with petrol, and £7.15 for diesel.
