Demo van at Smithfield market where orders for six of the new refrigerated van conversions have been taken in the first month

IF you’re in the fresh or frozen produce business and need a refrigerated van for customer deliveries, a new Vauxhall Movano adaptation from conversion specialist The Cold Consortium could be for you.

The conversion has been developed specifically for the fresh and frozen produce industries, and traders and SMEs can now lease the vehicle from just £120 per week.

The comprehensive conversion on Vauxhall’s largest panel van is available in either chilled or deep-freeze configurations. Features specifically aimed at businesses carrying fresh and frozen foods include epoxy resin panels impregnated with Envirocare-Bactericide to provide a waterproof and durable finish to the load space, together with pallet protection for the floor, and aluminium threshold protection.

The low floor height gives easy access to the rear. The Movano is available in a range of load lengths roof and roof heights. The GAH slim roof-mounted condenser maintains a low roofline.

The conversion offers operating temperatures of +0˚C to +8˚C for the chiller version, and as low as -25˚C for the deep-freeze version.

Ian Gardner, The Cold Consortium managing director, told Business Vans: “There’s been a great deal of interest in our demonstrator vehicle. Customers enjoy a ‘hands-on’ look around the Movano and seeing it in action, making it easy to visualise how useful an asset it could be for their business.”

Steve Bryant, brand manager Vauxhall Commercial Vehicles, said: “Our new relationship with The Cold Consortium allows  purveyors of every kind of fresh produce – from dairy farmers to butchers – to deliver their products to customers safe in the knowledge that the vehicle is reliable, efficient and affordable.”
