What is it?
THE Fiat Ducato is a familiar sight on the roads of Britain, along with its ‘cousins’ the Peugeot Boxer and Citroen Relay. And such popularity is far from undeserved.
For a start, it’s got history.
The Fiat Ducato was launched in 1981, although the current version has been with us from 2006. And it’s gained a reputation for its drivability and workmanlike yet stylish looks.
Although the Fiat Ducato is the product of collaboration with Citroen and Peugeot, the Ducato’s ‘the daddy’ as all three come off the line at Fiat’s Italian Sevel factory.

Our Fiat Ducato review van, a 2.3 L2 H1 medium-wheelbase model, is powered by a Euro 5-compliant 2287cc Fiat Multijet 16-valve turbo-diesel engine.
This engine in the Ducato develops 110hp and 300Nm of torque. It’ll also see you good for 39.2mpg. CO2 emissions are 189g/km.

Matched with the standard slick six-speed manual gearbox, it hustles the Fiat Ducato along at a tidy pace, the torquey engine pulling strongly across the rev range.
And the Ducato offers a satisfying drive. It rides well, albeit on the firm side, but this helps keep it tidy on more serpentine B-roads. It’s also manoeuvrable around town with a 12.46 metre kerb-to-kerb turning circle.
