Access to the loadspace is easy. The offside sliding door is an option

And it handles very well, the precise steering and firm ride adding to the experience. The five-speed gearbox is also a joy to use with slick changes and a short throw more akin to a switch than a lever.

ABS and EBS are standard.

The parking sensors – a £110 option – were effective and a useful aid to manoeuvring into tight spaces.

While the Traction+ is no match for a dual-range four-wheel-drive transmission system, it is surprisingly good at keeping the Fiorino Adventure moving on the sticky stuff and up slippery gradients. It would be a real blessing in snowy and icy conditions.

The Adventure has increased ground clearance, which helps on uneven surfaces, and you also get an additional 50kg of payload.

The Fiorino Adventure is equipped with fuel-saving Start&Stop as standard. It’s smooth in operation – once used to it, you won’t even think about it. And stated fuel consumption is a very healthy 65.7mpg on the combined cycle.

Service intervals are set at 21,000 miles and a three-year/120,000-mile warranty is provided.
