The load bed is really easy to access – and those little panels are drop-down steps so the more delicate among you can still climb up
The cab is a little disappointing. It feels rather sparse and plasticky, although the seats are comfortable enough and there’s there’s plenty of storage, too.
But it’s well equipped. The test vehicle was equipped with steering wheel-mounted radio controls (a £75 option), external temperature sensor (£35) and, as a touch of luxury, leather steering wheel and gear knob (a £95 extra). Air conditioning is a £595 option.
On the road, the Doblo Work Up rides well and feels more stable than its ‘ugly-duck’ looks might suggest.
Not surprisingly, the dropsides make the loadbed easy to access, whether hand loading using a forklift.
They are fitted with fold-down steps to assist climbing onto the bed and there are also built-in side steps in the body which are useful when, for example, securing loose items, such as ladders or tools, to the built-on protective mesh bulkhead/ladder rack.
Service intervals are 21,000 miles, and Doblo Work up has a three-year/120,000-mile warranty with three years of AA Assurance.
