The glovebox is small, the stowage area above it on the passenger side is an odd size – with many things we tried to put in it spilling out on the floor. Then there’s the central dash-top stowage area with useful power point but that’s also a bit shallow.

In my last report I was going to get in touch with the Volkswagen Press Office with regard to my not working App Connect System – or rather the Apple Car Play I was expecting.

Anyway, Volkswagen did come back to me and disappointingly, despite being listed as standard, our van doesn’t actually have this feature. More annoying is that it apparently can’t be retro-fitted either!

Still, the stereo itself seems good quality, sound reproduction is good and the DAB radio means I can enjoy my favourite digital radio stations. It just seems that the Multi-function display is a bit underused considering its size!

Another little niggle includes my own small lake of rainwater, that sits in the doorstep of the Transporter after heavy rainstorms and usually soaks my shoes! I’d suggest this is a fault with the driver’s door rubber, but I’m not going to worry about it, as – even though it seems I’ve just got to know this van – Volkswagen are already talking about a swapping it for a new Caddy!

We like:

Easy to drive, spacious load area, all the standard kit, generally comfortable and refined performer, high quality

We don’t like:

App Connect confusion, dashboard stowage, unsettled ride on the 18-inch wheels
