Viezu 2

Viezu have remapped over 24,000 vans, with clients including BT and British Gas’s Homeserve brand

So down to the nitty gritty.

We drove a test route of around 15 miles taking in a variety of situations such as towns, villages and fast dual carriageways and we did it twice – once with Blue Optimize in place and once with it switched off.

But here’s the rub – they didn’t tell us which was which and we had to guess, a bit like blind wine tasting.

The vehicle was a new Ford Transit Custom with 125bhp under its belt and to be honest we couldn’t tell the difference in power or performance.

Give a driver either vehicle and he’d be pretty damned please I can tell you, as this van is a cracker to drive, very comfortable and with pin  sharp handling..

In the end we had to make a guess and plumped for the second drive as being the one with Blue Optimize fitted, purely because it just felt as though someone was doing something slightly different under the bonnet.

We were right – hem hem – but the real surprise came when our man announced the fuel economy results.

The second time – although both routes were driven in exactly the same manner – achieved a 9% reduction in fuel at 33.82mpg against 30.9mpg on the first drive.
