AUTO STYLING TRUCKMAN – the maker of hardtops for pick ups – has acquired the tooling to manufacturer the Ambassador and Countryman brands of pick-up hardtop canopies.
Previously these brands were owned by Droitwich Glassfibre, Pick Up Tops and latterly Glassfibre Technologies.
Ambassador and Countryman hardtop brands are used by pick-up fleet operators such as BT Fleet and Northgate Vehicle Hire. The tooling acquisition ensures continued availability of spares and accessories.
The ranges include commercial hardtops to suit most current pick-up models and are available in cab-high and high roof versions.
The hardtops, which can be finished in gloss white or colour coded to the pickup – can be specified to include roof vents, side door access, solid rear doors and roof bars.
The hardtops will be manufactured at Auto Styling Truckman’s factory in the West Midlands alongside the extensive range of commercial and leisure hardtops at its recently expanded manufacturing facility in the West Midlands.
The company recently invested £375,000 in its factory to increase production capacity.
This is the second time in its history that the company has rescued a hardtop brand. In 2008 it saved the internationally-renowned Truckman brand, retaining the manufacture of the range in the UK.
Mike Wheeler, Managing Director of Auto Styling Truckman, said: “This is a significant development for Auto Styling Truckman as we increase our offering to commercial fleet operators and maintain the availability of an established brand.
“Specifiers of Ambassador and Countryman hardtops can also be confident that Auto Styling Truckman will breathe new life into the range.
“They will be subject to the same high standards of manufacture as the rest of our portfolio of hardtops and customers will also benefit from the excellent levels of customer service we provide.”
