Fuel duty cut by 1p per litre from 6pm tonight

THE Chancellor, George Osborne, made a surprise announcement in his Budget today, announcing a reduction in fuel duty by 1p per litre from tonight at 6pm (23rd March 2011), the scrapping of the fuel duty escalator and the introduction of a fair fuel stabiliser.

The planned 4p inflation rise in fuel duty would be delayed until January 2012; the April 2012 increase delayed until October 2012.
