The SmartWitness stand at a trade show where business is booming

COMPANIES are turning on cameras to catch criminals and careless drivers.

One of the best selling accessories at the CV Show were compact CCTV systems fitted to windscreens or dashboards.

SmartWitness Vehicle CCTV and safety systems received £2m worth of orders of vehicle CCTV cameras at last week’s Commercial Vehicle Show and the Croydon-based firm saw an 80% increase on sales at the show compared with the previous year.

This year the number of enquiries has been unprecedented and we took orders for £2m in just three days

International Sales Director Mark Berry said, “This year the number of enquiries has been unprecedented and we took orders for £2m in just three days.

“There were orders for over 10,000 units which is up considerably on last year and we were inundated with interest right from the start. The stand was busy across the entire show and we were writing out order forms all day.”

He added, “We are extremely pleased by the response at the show and it highlights that our presence in the market-place is much improved on last year.

“Brand awareness and the confidence in SmartWitness have both increased but also a key factor is that many operators in the market now know about the benefits of having vehicle CCTV and safety systems installed. It’s seen as a necessary part of their business now and so many more haulage and courier companies are aware of how SmartWitness technology can protect them on the roads.”
