For city deliveries or even carrying temperature sensitive material around hospital or industrial sites, the 37-55 mile range is fine. Access is via rear and side doors

THE hottest new thing from Italian brand Alke is a way to keep chilled in the city centre.

The brand is launching a new range of refrigerated vans that are completely electrically powered.

Each member of the Alte ATX range comes fitted with a removable cold-storage unit, that can be powered from a 12-volt socket on the vehicle or plugged into the mains.

Quaint – but you won’t be getting one for its looks

The unit is made up of sandwich panels in glassfibre and expanded polyurethane, measures 1800 x 1200 x 1200mm and has an internal volume of 1.5 cubic metres. Access is through doors on the back and one side and the temperature can be regulated by a control in the driver’s cab.

The vehicle’s range – between 37 and 55 miles depending on model, its compact width of only 127cm, and its all-electric zero-emissions powertrain make it ideal for use in city centres, delivering anything that needs to remain chilled out.

Alke adds that ATX vans could be used in large factories to transfer between warehouses, or between the various departments of a hospital.

Alke, which has been making industrial electric vehicles since 1992, will be marketing the new Alte ATX chiller vans in up to 40 countries, including the UK.
