Electrical retailer Currys PC World has taken delivery of 50 Fiat Doblo Cargo Maxi vans for use with its service engineer fleet. With a 1,000kg payload and 4.2cu m volume allowing transportation of large, heavy items such as washing machines and fridge freezers, the vans will be used for home service visits.
The £600,000 deal, with vans supplied and managed by VMS Fleet Management, puts Fiat Professional’s 1.6-litre MultiJet diesel commercial vehicle at the heart of Currys PC World’s van fleet.
Martin James, managing director of VMS Fleet Management, told Business Vans: “The Doblo Cargo Maxi was chosen for its excellent fuel economy and low CO2 emissions, as well as the 1,000kg payload. It was also useful that the vehicles came straight from the factory in black, as this was the colour Currys PC World requested.”
The Doblo Cargo Maxi is equipped with ABS anti-lock brakes, electrically operated windows, power steering and central locking as standard. Options include air conditioning, electric door mirrors and headlamp washers.
The range starts at £12,365 (basic price) for the Cargo 1.4 16v, rising to £17,467 (basic price) for the Cargo Maxi SX 1.6 MultiJet 16v Diesel 105 Tecnico.
Sebastiano Fedrigo, director, Fiat Professional, said: “We are delighted once again that a leading household name has chosen the Fiat Doblo for its fleet. A combination of its size, versatility and value for money makes the Doblo Cargo Maxi an excellent choice for company van applications such as these.”
