Five years ago the show was cancelled in the depths of the recession. Now it’s almost sold out 2 months before opening

IF you want to exhibit at the Commercial Vehicle Show this year, better get your skates on.

With eight weeks still to go until the doors open stand space is almost sold out.

According to the Road Haulage Association – one of the show partners – total exhibitor space at the end of February amounted to 31,347sq m, an increase of 2251sq m on the 2013 show at opening time last year. This is even more impressive considering that only five years ago the show was cancelled because of the recession.

“That is a great achievement by any standards,” RHA chief executive Geoff Dunning told Business Vans. “We have always said that the success of the UK’s road transport and logistics industry is an accurate indicator as to the health of the rest of the economy. On that basis, there can be no doubt that the economy is finally well on the road to recovery.”

He said the CV Show provided a great shop window for the association which was leading the industry in areas such as load securing, training and haulage company systems and procedures.

The Commercial Vehicle Show takes place at Birmingham’s NEC from 29 April until 1 May.
