LIKE the look of this e-load up! electric van? It’s the car-derived van version of the up! car.

Would you buy the VW e-load-up! if it was on sale in the UK? (That’s if you can get through the ridiculous grammatical punctuation that comes with this van…)

Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles took this little van to the CV Show at Birmingham for showgoers to help it decide whether to offer it to UK buyers.

The e-load up! boasts nearly 1,000 litres of loadspace and 360kg payload, yet has a footprint of just 3.6 metres – perfect for urban courier services, or food delivery and even service technicians.

The e-load up! is powered by a zero emission AC electric motor producing 82PS and 210Nm of torque, linked to the front wheels by a single speed gearbox and has a theoretical range of 99 miles.

We spoke to Carl zu Dohna, director of Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles, about the e-load up!:
“We have the e-load up! here to assess public reaction to it as a small zero emission urban delivery van. After the CV Show we will have a better idea how potential buyers see the usefulness of such a van. What I can confirm, though, is that we are definitely introducing an electric version of the new Crafter panel van which will arrive in the UK at the end of this year.”

What a little screamer – the e-load up!
