The grille is strangely reminiscent of a BMW, but any resemblance ends there. Prices for the Chinese built van range start at a modest £7495

CHEAP and cheerful Chinese built vans from DFSK are being given a makeover for 2014.

They don’t come any cheaper than the DFSK Loadhopper range of panel vans and trucks but what you get is pretty basic.

However, if basic is not a problem for you, then next year you’ll be tempted by a new look to the front-end with redesigned bumpers and new rear light clusters.

In the cab, there’s an upgraded dashboard and instruments. A 52bhp 1.0-litre petrol engine offering 78Nm of torque joins the present 1.3-litre on some variants. DFSK is also working with Fiat to develop a small diesel engine, due for introduction towards the end of the year.

Expect additions to the range next year

The range has also been expanded with a window van and seven-seater minibus.

The DFSK Loadhopper Tipper, either single or double cab, now comes with an Italian-made Cuccini body in place of the previous factory-fitted one. It has a three-way tipping function and is controlled by a cab-mounted lead. Maximum gross payload is 687kg.

The line-up is also due to expand even further with the addition of two new models. The Big Cab Pick-up features an extended cab with storage space behind the seats and its load bed is extended lengthwise by 120mm compared with the Single Cab.

Prices start at £7495 (ex-VAT).
